GĦAŻIŻ EDDIE. GRAZZI TA’ KOLLOX. IL-POPLU MALTI U GĦAWDXI HUWA GRAT LEJK.
Grazzi ta’ Kollox Missier Malta.
We feel most indebted to you for your courageous leadership in the difficult years of our history in the 1980’s
“Is-Sewwa Jirbah” you used to say to the faithful crowds who followed you and this actually became a reality in May 1987 when you became our Prime Minister!
We are also grateful for leading us successfully to membership in the European Union.
Thank you Eddie for you have saved Malta from violence and corruption.
Thank you does not even suffice for what you did for the Maltese people and Malta. I will be eternally grateful. I treasure the memories when I used to spend every Sunday in my youth attending Mass Meetings to hear your message.
So proud to know such a great man, and may God bless him today and always and all those people who follow his great example. To his amazing dedication and love for Malta.
Prosit! Thanks to you and your lovely family for sharing so many precious memories with us all.
Jiena nixtieq nirringrazzjak talli tajtni l-opportunita tal-edukazzjoni tajba u xoghol, u kburi li jien Malti u Ewropej!
Paci u sahha,
Not only because he knew how to deliver his speeches right down to people’s hearts, but because christian democratic principles were always the beating heart of his policies.
Eddie Fenech Adami is one of Malta's most influential statesman whose contribution led to the development of a democratic state based on the respect of fundamental human rights and civil liberties which were regularly abused prior to his election as Prime Minister in 1987.
A Nationalist Party (P.N.) politician, Eddie served as Prime Minister of Malta from 1987 until 1996, and again from 1998 until 2004. He led his party to win five general elections, in 1981, 1987, 1992, 1998 and 2003. Staunchly pro-European, he led the country to join the European Union in 2004 after having won a national referendum. Fenech Adami is the longest serving Maltese Prime Minister since Malta's independence in 1964.
This historical web archive presently seeks to document a number of political meetings addressed by Eddie Fenech Adami in the run-up to the crucial 1987 general election.
